Honoring Robert Ingersoll
Robert Ingersoll is perhaps most celebrated for his long-time friendship with, and national advocacy for, the famous “signing chimpanzee” Nim. It may be less well-known— but it’s close to our heart— that his work with and for the Oklahoma Primate Sanctuary stretches back over 25 years. Right from the start, Bob worked alongside founder Linda Barcklay to secure funding for the first monkey residents at the then-named Mindy’s Memory. In 2010 Bob was responsible for negotiating the transfer of the “Magnificent Eight” from a bankrupt laboratory in New Jersey and has helped numerous other primates retire to a new life. He has put in many hours of labor here at the sanctuary and continues to serve on the OPS advisory council.
For these reasons, and with our gratitude, we dedicate this fund-raiser to Bob. Please join us in honoring his efforts by making a donation to the monkeys – and don’t forget to leave a comment for Bob!
