Primate Caregiver, Full Time
About the Oklahoma Primate Sanctuary
The Oklahoma Primate Sanctuary (OPS) provides compassionate, lifetime care for non-human primates retired from research, rehomed from the pet trade, or retired from display. We are dedicated to providing a highly enriched quality of life for the primates in our care by giving them access to natural environments, regular psychological enrichment, a healthy and diverse diet, and professional veterinary care.
We are now recruiting a qualified individual to join our care-giving team who is committed to animal welfare and is willing to strive to make a positive difference in our residents’ daily lives.
Primate caregiver duties include, but are not limited to:
- Preparing and serving diets
- Cleaning indoor and outdoor enclosures
- Assembling and distributing enrichment
- Monitoring the physical and emotional well-being of each primate resident
- Grounds Maintenance
- Assist in maintaining and repairing enclosures
- Distributing medications
- Working on outreach campaigns promoting the sanctuary at social events by tabling, etc. (no live animals)
Caregivers understand that working days and hours may vary according to time of year and animal needs. This position involves work that is almost entirely outdoors and requires a great deal of walking and physical exertion. The sanctuary is not open to the public and caregivers do not engage in open contact with the monkeys.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Previous employment experience in animal care, preferably with primates or other captive wildlife
- Must work weekends
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Must be able to work effectively both independently and as a team member
Compensation:
$14.50/hour

Maintenance Technician, Full Time

We are dedicated to providing a highly enriched quality of life for the primates in our care by giving them access to natural environments, regular psychological enrichment, a healthy and diverse diet, and professional veterinary care.
We are now recruiting a qualified individual to join our team who is committed to animal welfare and is willing to strive to make a positive difference in our residents’ daily lives.
The Maintenance person assists in ensuring that the 12.5-acre site is well-maintained and the physical infrastructure, encompassing grounds, buildings, vehicles, equipment, and animal enclosures are in good repair.
This position requires experience in a majority of the following skills/trades:
- Fence repair and installation.
- Plumbing
- Light welding
- Carpentry
- Operation and light maintenance of small equipment (e.g. power tools, mowers) and large equipment
- General building repair and maintenance
- Tree pruning and grounds-keeping
- Minor Automotive repair and maintenance
This job requires physical labor for up to eight hours each day, outside in all weather conditions and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance. Regular working hours are Monday-Friday from 7:30am-4:30pm

- Complete tasks fully, accurately, and on time.

- Contribute to a positive, professional, and team-oriented workplace.
- Respond to emergencies in the evenings or on weekends when needed.
- Candidates must be fluent in English with good communication skills, be able to lawfully work in the United States, have a valid driver’s license and good driving record, be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent, and be able to work unsupervised.

$15.00/hour
