The Tim Ajax Memorial Garden at Oklahoma Primate Sanctuary is a beautiful, peaceful space created to honor the legacy of Tim Ajax, the sanctuary’s beloved former director who dedicated decades to compassionate primate care. Tim passed away in early 2026 after a distinguished career transforming the sanctuary (formerly Mindy’s Memory) into Oklahoma’s only GFAS-verified primate sanctuary, rescuing and providing lifetime enriched homes for nearly 100 primates retired from research, the pet trade, and other difficult situations.

This memorial garden serves as a serene area for reflection, a place to celebrate Tim’s passion for animals, and a living tribute that supports the primates he loved so much. Volunteers are essential to maintaining and enhancing this special space—helping it grow into a thriving, natural oasis that benefits both people and the resident primates.
